EBay - Is It All It’s Cracked Up To Be

EBay, a website identified by pretty much everybody allows you to post items whether you want to acquire them or sell them off.

Previously I have used eBay to locate and buy many discounted items. My concern with the eBay website is that the larger it is, the more it appeals to people who often add little to the local community in a positive fashion.

It used to be a website where people could sell their used goods that they no longer needed whether this be their old used couch or limited edition sculptures. You would perform a search and find any number of discount items. The popularity of the web site has encouraged companies to sell directly on this site and convinced a variety of wannabe Internet entrepreneurs that eBay is the place to make their dream of riches come true.

It’s not completely a bad point, it has however started to clutter the site together with, in my opinion, plenty of low quality items and many low quality sellers.

It has in addition attracted the type of person that’s unfamiliar with the supply and demand idea behind setting an amount with auction promoting. Instead, they believe that simply because they set up an item to bid on, they are certain to produce a bidding war and hence set a ridiculous higher price for what is most certainly an average product at best.

The website has started to attract consumers who have no real idea on how to bid. Instead of waiting until the last hour of closing, they begin to try and out bid their competitors at the early stages which actually does nothing more than up the price of an item that could have been purchased at a bargain.

The key points are that eBay still attracts some people that have no real notion of how to set up a sale to attract interest, this means a good bargain can nonetheless be found. Also, the particular influx of businesses utilizing eBay means searching for and buying items which don’t appear to be easily available within street shops.

Overall, I do still feel eBay offers amazing potential. It allows real consumers to get a huge array of goods at a fraction of their normal cost. It also allows businesses, entrepreneurs and people in general to sell their stuff and make money with it. Hopefully, there will eventually be a little more stricter policy on the type of “goods”that can be sold there.

There are other features to be found in Kompozer some of which are also available in those high end web page editors such as FrontPage and Dreamweaver.

When you use this program you will be able to use four modes to view the pages you have created. You can see them in HTML and normal view, and Real Time and page source preview.

There are also word processor features such as text styles, spell check, image editor, and colour pallet included. If you need to use a CS editor one is included.

The Kompozer toolbar can be customised to you specific likes and by simply dragging into place each element you can create WebPages. You will not need to run a separate ftp program as one is also included.

One key disadvantage is the absence of support but there is a forum where you might find people able to teach you like the people looking for uk teaching jobs.

The Future Looks Good For Movies!

I miss my VHS videos. I don’t think about VHS anymore, but every so often they come up in my mind. Memories of sneaking into the back room at the video store to look at the horror films that I was years away from being able to watch (but I did anyway, so take that and party dad!)Old images in my head of my chest of drawers, filled with classics… But don’t worry, I am not another person moaning on about how we should bring them back and all that rubbish. No, I say burn each and every one of them! DVD is much better. I mean, honestly, how could you not love it? If you remember, the main problem with VHS was…hmm…everything? Yes, everything. It was useless. It wore down after a few viewings, the tapes got stuck in the machine and basically it tried hard but was doomed from the beginning. When DVD came along all those problems became a thing of the past. There is the argument that DVD is all newfangled, whereas VHS had a history, but still, I much prefer DVDs and I really do think that people who wish VHS would come back are probably more in love with the memories of times gone by, rather than the actual thing itself. What with all this thinking of DVDs, I can’t help but wonder what is coming. Who knows? Maybe chips inserted into our foreheads which beam a laser out (imagine how cool it would be! To get more films you could scan your head at a machine at a hole in the wall or something, just like getting cash out)…or miniature players which strap on our wrists like watches and project the images huge onto walls? Personally I can’t wait to see what the techno-boffins come up with. If the past is anything to go by, the future of movie watching is looking up!

A New Revolution?

I love books. I really do. Love them as much as I love pine furniture (and trust me, I am a nightmare in IKEA). I didn’t used to love books, mainly because I was obsessed with computer games – yes, even though I am a girl and should have been doing nice things, like playing in meadows, rather than beating the crap out of Ryu in Streets Of Rage – but now I have read about a hundred I can see the appeal. I’ll tell you what’s even better than books, though, and this won’t surprise anyone who knows me: it’s those new gadgets for reading books. Quite simply, they are brilliant! I get how a lot of people don’t like these gadgets, of course I do. They are still in love with their paper, and their page-turning, and they just like the feel. But truly? I think they are missing out. When it comes to lugging books about they are a total pain in the ass. Take going on holiday as a good example. How many books can you reasonably carry? Any more than about fifteen in your luggage and you look suspicious – and I should know: I was stopped because security thought that my copy of American Psycho could be a bomb – and aside from that, they are heavy as hell. But then you have these new gadgets, and they weigh nothing! Even better, they can store literally thousands of books on them. I realize that it’s going to be a long time until the electronic gadgets take over, but I thought I should write this post because I just watched a thing on the news and they said that recently, sales of these gadgets have surpassed hard-back books. Now, if that isn’t reason for considering this new technology as a viable competitor, I don’t know what it.

I have just visited the worst website ever. I did this not by accident as you might expect, but out of intrigue: a friend text and wrote THE WORST WEBSITE EVER, CHECK IT OUT AT THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS! I would never be so crude as to write the address, although part of me wants to. That thing should come with a homepage that offers counselling to disturbed visitors who actually have taste! For the record, here are my all-time tips of how to go about creating the worst website imaginable. Don’t follow these are you are sure to be onto a good thing: 1) You have a friend with two eyes, hands that work and degree. They might even have graduated with a “media” associated qualification! Why not take them up on their offer? Hell, put the reputation of your successful business in their incapable hands and watch your profits take a massive nosedive! 2) Do red and green make your eyes hurt when close together? Well why not capitalize on that and build your website wholly using these two clashing colours? Other people are sure to hate them as much as you, and thus you can make their eyes age fifteen years and be permanently damaged, great! 3) Know a friend who only speaks in text language? Who got a GCSE grade F mark but really likes inflicting misery and pain on other people via his or her “copywriting”? Be sure to call them up, for this is another opportunity for them to endanger the minds of others, and they surely will not miss it. 4) Still in contact with your Newcastle fuck buddy? A horrible nasty man who specializes in hitting on young girls and getting them drunk? Why not give him a call and ask if he wants to answer the emails. That’ll really help you! Now, I know that could be perceived as a bit negative, but seriously dudes: take a moment to get an expert in – or at least someone with the capabilities to build a good site – otherwise you’ll be paying the price for a long time to come!

The Future Of USB

Hello visitor, lucky you: if you are reading this blog post – which you must be, unless you are able to somehow magically communicate with my keyboard, which I doubt, even if you’re Paul McKenna or Derren Brown (for the ignorant, Paul McKenna was the Derren Brown of old) – then you have found me on a highly inspirational day, for I am writing not about casual sex Dudley (as I was yesterday for a local newspaper article about dogging) but about USB gadgets. I am asking: are USB gadgets the next hotter than sex-on-fire Kings Of Leon type things? Or are they simply gimmicks, like Pet Rock’s and nipple tassels for Alsations? Yes, really. If you ask me, they are sex-on-fire. How else can you describe a miniature dragon that breathes fire? Or a miniature camera that charges up from the USB and any spy would be very happy to own? Yes, for me they are awesome things, and for the life of me I can’t remember how people lived before the USB came about. It’s a tragic thought indeed…to imagine cavemen millions of years ago stuck in their cave playing hop-scotch – I know it was supposed to be a school game but I reckon that when it really rained outside they might have done something similar to curb the boredom – and not knowing that a miniature future device would save anyone from ever being bored again. And what about the future of USB? What might happen with it next? There are millions of possibilities, surely; the only thing I am sad about is that I will be much too old and decrepit to see them come to fruition! That’s a shame, but I shall take pride in knowing that my children and their children will get the benefit just like I did.

To sleep or not to sleep

Sleep supplements are surely and odd thing.
A supplement is something added to make up for a deficiency, to complete something, to make something whole.

If I supplement my diet when hitting the gym I may take a high carbohydrate drink or even just a banana. Both will give me loads of energy.
How do I supplement sleep though?
Do not get me wrong I appreciate I can take herbal remedies that will aid or encourage sleep. I am just not sure what I could supplement it with and even if I would want to.
Sleep just is. You either are, or you are not, asleep.
It has a purpose in that it recharges our batteries. It stops our brains from fuzzing over and breaking. It gives us a use for our beds which otherwise would be redundant.
Now I go to bed and lay awake at night wondering what the devil I can supplement my sleep with. Can I add in some lazing? Maybe I can drape myself over the edge of my bed when I am not sleeping. Yes maybe that is it. I could lay over the edge of the bed, eyes closed just pondering. As long as I do not consider supplements.
The other day I tried this and fell asleep. Damn my supplement to sleep was taken from me by sleep. I awoke to find myself so refreshed I could no longer lay out comfortably.
I can only imagine that meditation is the only real sleep supplement.
Can I buy that then?
